A young Ballymena boy is set to see his first role in a film hit the big screen, at the upcoming Venice Film Festival in September.
Five year old Daniel Lamont gained a part in ‘Nowhere Special’, a co-production between a number of European film companies in the UK, Italy, and Romania, supported by Northern Ireland Screen.

“‘Nowhere Special’ features James Norton (Happy Valley, Mr. Jones, Little Women) as 35 year old window cleaner John, who has dedicated his life to bringing up his son, after the child's mother left them soon after giving birth.
“When John is given only a few months to live, he attempts to find a new, perfect family for his three-year-old son (played by young Daniel), determined to shield him from the terrible reality of the situation.”
The movie was filmed on location in Northern Ireland in 2019, when Daniel was 4 years old.
Northern Ireland Screen said it is delighted to see ‘Nowhere Special’ feature in the Horizons section of the Festival, which runs from 2-12 September. It will be one of the first major film festivals to take place physically following the Covid-19 outbreak.

Daniel’s parents commented, “We are obviously very excited as parents, and can't wait to see it on the big screen!”
Beta Cinema has acquired worldwide sales rights. Hopefully we will all get to see the talented Daniel Lamont on our screens soon.
