Woman charged following violent assault in Ballymena

The shocking incident was captured on video, which has been widely shared on social media, and occurred on the street in broad daylight.


A 55-year-old woman has been charged with multiple offences following a violent assault in the Paradise Avenue area of Ballymena, police have confirmed.


The incident, which occurred on the evening of Thursday, 24th April, left one man needing medical treatment.



The woman faces a series of serious charges, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, threats to kill, possession of an offensive weapon with intent, and attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.


She was due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 26th April, to answer the charges.


The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) responded to reports of an assault involving several individuals in the residential area on Thursday evening.



One man was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries, while requiring medical attention, are not believed to be life-threatening.


In a related development, a 28-year-old man was also arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released on police bail pending further investigation.
