Woman arrested for assault following collision in Ballymena

Police in Ballymena arrested a 28-year-old woman following a road traffic collision which occurred on Ballee Road East, near the Seven Towers Roundabout earlier today, Friday 4 August.


It is understood the collision happened shortly before 2pm, however it was reported that a woman in one of the vehicles involved was assaulted by the other driver.



Traffic was backed up in the area for a period while police dealt with the incident.


A police spokesperson said:


"Police in Ballymena arrested a 28 year old woman on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault on police and disorderly behaviour following an incident on the Ballee Road East near Seven Towers Roundabout on Friday 4th August.



"It was reported that the woman assaulted a female motorist following a collision involving their two vehicles. Officers arrested the woman after she became aggressive with them and she was taken into custody.


"The woman was later released on bail to allow for further enquiries to be conducted."
