Love Ballymena had the pleasure of joining Willow and Lore for a unique soul refreshing experience – FIRE, FEAST AND FOLKLORE. This was truly an evening for local women to indulge in taking time to pause, reset, reconnect and refresh.
Nestled in the idyllic setting of the beautiful County Antrim hills, Willow and Lore Glamping, embrace the simple way of life. They offer a unique space to connect with one another, enjoy conversation, take time to reflect and enrich your soul.
The evening started with homemade cocktails and mocktails alongside introductions to the team and the other lady participants. There is something very special about women caring for and supporting women and this is exactly what we experienced and had the pleasure of enjoying.
As the sun began to dip below the hills, we gathered to participate in a Breathwork session led by the lovely and enthusiastic, Meagan. It was refreshing and reviving to take time to connect with ones self and really reflect on ones wellbeing.
Laying in the grass, feeling the movement of the sun as it took it’s leave while being suspiciously eyed by the local sheep is an experience you didn’t know you needed until you did. Tensions seeped away into the soft, green grass while the gentle breeze spirited any anxieties or felling of awkwardness. I felt connected to those women around me, women I had only met but somehow related to in a real way.
Meagan was kind and openly explained each step of the relaxation session and encouraged each participant to respond to the activities in an authentic way. Each woman was given a journal to write down words detailing hopes or fears after our time of introspection.
The cathartic act of releasing these into a warm, flickering fire later in evening consolidated the freedoms being sought. The precious honesty in that trusted circle of women was empowering as we accepted and celebrated the individuality of each person.
The joy of sharing a six course tasting menu was yet to come. Eva Hourihan (Craft Event Catering) created an interesting and tantalising taste journey using the freshest local ingredients.
This celebration of mouthwatering flavours from stout and treacle bread with seasalt butter to textures of organic beetroot with labneh to daube of beef with celeriac puree and parsnip crisps to a rhubarb panna cotta leave you feeling like you have been in food heaven.
Eva is a master of her craft and we recommend that should the opportunity arise to enjoy her food, seize it with both hands!
Ultimately, an evening at Willow and Lore assures nourishing of the body and soul. In the words of Giada De Laurentiis, “Food brings people together on many different levels. It's nourishment of the soul and body; it's truly love.”
