Pictured receiving the donation from Tesco Ballymena Community Champion Ronny McFall are coaches Paul Thompson, David Semple and Johnny Steele, alongside players Alfie Thompson, Maci Steele, Harry Anderson and Mark Alexander.
Ballymena United's two 2014 teams' preparations for next week's Foyle Cup have received a timely boost from Tesco's Ballymena store.
The Larne Road-based supermarket has kindly provided bottled water, fruit and sweets for the children as they prepare to compete in the prestigious tournament in the north west of the province.
Paul Thompson, Head Coach of the 2014 age section, said:
"We're very grateful to Tesco for their generosity in helping keep our players' energy and spirits up for what will be a busy, but very enjoyable week at the Foyle Cup."
Captain of one of the Ballymena United youth teams Harry Anderson can be seen in the photo (above) using the ILY sign - this is based on American sign language and creates a sign from a combination of the signs for the letters for I, L, and Y - meaning 'I Love You'. It is used to show positive feelings, which can range from esteem to love.
Head Coach Paul added:
"As captain of one of our two teams Harry always sets a positive example of the qualities that our coaches try to instil in the children, such as giving of their best, good behaviour, looking out for their team-mates and showing respect to opponents and referees."
Ronny McFall, Tesco Ballymena Community Champion, commented:
"On behalf of Tesco, I am delighted to make this donation to our local youth football teams as they work hard and prepare to give their best on the football field in the Foyle Cup tournament.
"For the parents and coaches involved in supporting our local youth, many will have to take time off work and they show as much dedication as their committed young sporting stars.
"I hope this Tesco donation helps with the costs of food and water and providing some snacks between games.
"Good luck to both teams!!"
