Community pay tribute to David Tweed who sadly died in tragic collision

Tributes have been paid to well-known local man Davy Tweed who sadly lost his life in a road traffic collision yesterday, Thursday 28 October, involving a motorcycle and car in County Antrim.

Police received a report shortly after 4.30pm that a motorcycle had been in collision with a car on the Whitepark Road, near Dunseverick.

Sadly Mr Tweed, who had been travelling on his motorbike, died at the scene.

Mr Tweed was a dedicated member of the Orange Order.

Causeway Coast and Glens councillor, Alderman John Finlay paid tribute to his friend this morning:

“Very sad to learn of the death of my good friend and Brother David Tweed. I have known Davy all my life and I am just devastated by the news of his passing. We in Dunloy will be much poorer for his passing. The family are in my prayers. Gone to be with Christ which is far better.”

Police have issued a statement on Friday afternoon appealing for witnesses following the tragedy:

“Police can confirm that the man who died as a result of the two vehicle collision, involving a car and a motorcycle, on the Whitepark Road near Bushmills on Thursday 28th October, was 61 year old David Tweed from the Ballymoney area.

Police enquires are continuing and officers from the Collision Investigation Unit in Sprucefield are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the incident or who has dash-cam footage to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 1350 28/10/21.”
