
Police investigating a shocking afternoon altercation in Ballymena town centre have charged two people to appear in court.
The spectacle, recorded on video by onlookers and shared widely on social media, involved two vehicles and a number of people involved in a confrontation shortly after 2:00pm on Saturday 1 March.
During the incident one drivers appears to drive their car toward a person and collides with another vehicle.
Police officers attended the scene and subsequently a man and woman were arrested.
Today, Monday 3 March, police confirmed they have charged a 40-year-old man with a number of offences including dangerous driving, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and failing to stop, failing to remain and failing to report an accident.
He is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Monday 3rd March.
The 32-year-old woman has been charged with disorderly behaviour, criminal damage and possessing an article with intent to damage property. She is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 27th March.
As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
