Tributes have been paid following the sad passing of Mr Robert Dick, a much respected Cullybackey man who served the Ballymena community as a pharmacist for many years until his retirement.

Many local residents will recall Robert’s former chemist shop, R.J. Dick, on Bridge Street. The shop also offered the best in photography services.

Robert sadly passed away peacfully at his Cullybackey home on Tuesday 26 February. A keen historian, the well-known gentleman served as President of Cullybackey and District Historical Society.

A spokesperson for the group paid tribute to Robert, saying:

“We at Cullybackey and District Historical Society have been left deeply saddened by the news of the passing of our esteemed President and very dear friend, Mr Robert Dick.

“Robert had a fantastic mind and a seemingly endless pool of enthusiasm. He was also filled to bursting with mischief and he kept us highly entertained at all times. We as a society were lucky to have had his support over the years and we as individuals were blessed to have had his friendship.

“We will miss him and the joy he radiated but we know he had squeezed as much goodness and fun as he could out of this life and that he is now at peace.

“We wish to extend our deepest condolences to Margaretta, Andrew, and the entire family circle at this sad time.”
