Tributes paid to fondly remembered teacher at Ballymena Academy

Tributes have been paid following the passing of much-respected local lady Heather Coleman, a former teacher at Ballymena Academy, who taught science at the school for almost 40 years.

Mrs Coleman passed away peacefully on 30 November 2022 after a long illness.

In a statement a spokesperson for Ballymena Academy said:

"We are saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs Heather Coleman. Heather was appointed as a member of staff in September 1970, teaching Junior Science and Chemistry until she retired in 2007.

"Heather was a much-loved and valued colleague, and a conscientious teacher. She had a long association with the school having attended it as a pupil, teaching in the Science department and as a parent.

"We pass on our sympathies to her husband Sam, son Robin, daughter Catherine and the whole family circle."
