Tributes paid following the passing of Lady Wright


Tributes have been paid following the passing of well-known and much-respected local woman Lady Wright, wife of the late Sir William Wright.


Sir William founded the Ballymena, County Antrim, bus manufacturing firm, Wrightbus, with his father, Robert, in a tin shed in 1946. He passed away in July 2022, aged 94.


A funeral notice for Lady Wright was published by Alan Francey Funeral Services on Friday, (21st June)



“We are sad to announce the home calling of Lady Rebecca (Ruby) Wright (née Kernohan) on 20th June 2024, much loved wife of the late Sir William Thompson Wright. Devoted mother of Mandy, Lorraine and Jeff, mother-in-law of George, Sam and Lorraine, cherished grandmother of her 10 grandchildren, great grandchildren, loving sister of Davy, Kathleen and sister-in-law of Bertie.


“House open on Friday 7pm to 9.30pm and Saturday 2pm to 5pm.


“Service of thanksgiving for the life and witness of Lady Rebecca (Ruby) will be held in her late home 36 Ballykennedy Road, Gracehill on Monday 24th June at 2pm followed by interment at 3.30pm in God’s Acre, Gracehill Moravian Church.



“No flowers please.


“Donations in memory of Lady Rebecca (Ruby) if desired and payable by cheque to Gracehill Moravian Church Building Fund c/o Alan Francey Funeral Services 94 Toome Road Ballymena BT42 2BU or online by card at www.franceyfunerals.com


“Ruby will be remembered for the love and kindness she gave to all her family.
