Translink advises Airshow visitors to plan ahead this weekend!


As preparations continue for the popular NI InternationalAirshow to take off this weekend on 7th and 8th September, Translink is advising visitors to plan ahead and make use of special shuttle services in place for the show.


With the impressive aeronautical display taking place at a new location along the coast - from Ballyreagh Golf Course to West Bay in Portrush - thousands of spectators are expected to attend the the high-flying event over the weekend.



Commenting on the popular event, Sam Todd, Service Delivery Manager at Translink, said:

 

“The International Air Show is a major attraction for visitors across Northern Ireland and further afield and we know that it will be a busy weekend with thousands of people expected to enjoy the sky-based spectacle. To avoid congestion and travel and parking stress, we’re advising visitors to plan ahead and familiarise themselves with the available shuttle services which will take them close to the action.”

 

The main Park and Ride service will run from Coleraine Rugby Club which operates to the New Millstrand Primary School Ballywillan Rd from 10.00-19.00 on both days and an extended time of 19.00-23.00 on Saturday those attending the fireworks and entertainment.


Those making use of the service after 20.00 should note the departure point changes to Dunluce Avenue.



For passengers with accessibility needs the following shuttle buses are available:

 

Shuttle service from Millstrand Primary School to West Bay Strand - operates 10.00-1900 both days

 

Shuttle service from Portrush Town Car Parks – operates both days from 10.00-19.00, travelling from the entrance of the new play park at Ramore Head, to East Strand car park and West Bay car park. 

 

In addition to special shuttle services, passengers should be aware that the regular 140 service will operate as usual between Portrush and Coleraine, however no buses on the 140 service will operate between Portrush and Portstewart due to travel restrictions. Passengers wishing to travel between Portrush and Portstewart should change in Coleraine.



Local Derry~Londonderry rail services will have enhanced capacity with regular services operating to and from Coleraine, Dhu Varren and Portrush during the weekend.

 

A range of great value fares are available including the Family and Friends ticket for £24 which allows up to two adults and four children to travel on bus and rail services across the network; the Sunday Day Tracker offering unlimited rail travel on a Sunday (£10 adult, £5 child); and the Bus Rambler, offering unlimited day travel for only £10 on all Ulsterbus, Goldliner, Metro and Glider services within Northern Ireland after 9.15am.
