HALF PRICE THIS WEEK…
We have a new additions to our Half Price Offer this week..
How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis gives a fresh perspective on the sometimes overwhelming tasks of cleaning and organising, and breaks it down into easy to manage steps.
This is a great book if you, or somebody you know, has ever struggled to keep on top of housework, especially during difficult periods in life when something as everyday as emptying the dishwasher can be too much.
Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before? by Dr. Julie Smith is a brilliant resource for anybody seeking to better their mental health or help to support somebody else.
Dr Julie Smith is a Psychologist who became popular on the social media site Tik- Tok, with her approachable, friendly videos on Mental Health that have reached millions of people. Her book covers a variety of topics in plain speaking language from bereavement to anxiety There are questions at the end of each chapter to help aid the reader in their learning.I cannot recommend this book enough.
World’s Worst Pets by David Walliams was our overall bestseller this week and it is easy to see why. Beautifully illustrated and funny as ever, this book is another hit for the incredibly popular David Walliams!
BOOKSELLER RUTH’S CHOICE RECOMMENDATION for a book that will make you think…
A Village in the Third Reich by Julia Boyd, author of previous bestseller Travellers in the Third Reich hones in on the lived experience of one village and its inhabitants during Hitler's tyrannical regime, bringing it down to a intimate, human level.
We meet Jews who survived and those who didn't, the Nazi Mayor who tried to shield those persecuted by the regime, and a blind boy whose life was judged, 'not worth living.'
I highly recommend this book because I believe it makes for compelling, urgently necessary reading, especially with the current tragic war in Ukraine.
KIDS SATURDAY STORY TIME…
Our Saturday Story Time takes place every week at noon on Saturday.
On the 14th May we will be reading You Can't Let an Elephant Drive a Racing Car by bestselling author Patricia Cleveland- Peck.
This book sees an array of animals in a range of side- splitting scenarios, from cricketing zebras to weightlifting wombats and makes for a laugh out loud read from start to finish.
We hope to see you at our next Saturday Story-Time and everyone is most welcome, especially if you haven't been to one before. We also have colouring in sheets every week, so feel free to stay awhile afterwards to colour in, or bring a colouring in sheet home with you!
ADULT BOOK CLUB…
Our next Book Club meeting takes place on Thursday 9th June at 7pm.
We will be reading The Trouble with Goats and Sheep by bestselling author Joanna Cannon.
This is a beautifully written mystery about one seemingly innocent summer in 1976 and the relationships between neighbours in one tight- knit cul-de-sac. Ten year old Grace and Tily discover what is really happening in their quiet neighbourhood.
Everyone will be made most welcome at our Book Club, we are an informal, friendly group that especially welcome newcomers. If you haven't been to one of our meetings before, feel free to come along!
That's all for this week, feel free to call into Waterstones Ballymena anytime for a browse or to ask one of our Booksellers a question. We are always happy to recommend a book or help source a title for you that we may not have on our shelves at the moment.
