The McLaughlin family and the committed staff of The Boathouse restaurant in Antrim proudly marked a triumphant reopening today following their recent contract win.

Their passionate pledge to breathe new life into this beloved establishment has been met with resounding success, setting the stage for an exciting culinary chapter.

The McLaughlin family, in partnership with Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, took over the reins of the iconic Boathouse restaurant last month. Their mission was simple yet profound: to revive the culinary gem that Antrim holds dear and, in doing so, give back to the local community.

Following a restoration process, The Boathouse opened its doors to a welcoming community, both new and familiar.

Over the course of the day, the restaurant saw an outpouring of support and enthusiasm from customers eager to savour the reimagined dining experience. Plans are afoot to invest £150K into the restaurant over the next 18 months.

Under the guidance of Head Chef Michael McGuigan, who returned to lead the culinary team, The Boathouse unveiled an exquisite menu that showcases Northern Ireland's finest flavours.

The new menu features an array of culinary delights, from the freshest seafood sourced from local waters to succulent meats and produce from Northern Irish farms. Customers will be treated to both traditional palates and those seeking a taste of the street food experience.

With unrivalled panoramic views of Lough Neagh as their backdrop, diners revelled in the gastronomic journey offered by The Boathouse.

Sean McLaughlin, speaking on behalf of the family and staff, shared their immense pride and excitement:

"We're thrilled to have reinstated The Boathouse and to witness the support and love from our wonderful community. Culinary excellence is not merely about food; it's about creating unforgettable experiences, and we are committed to delivering that promise. The excitement and buzz in the restaurant is palpable and we can’t wait for the next part of this journey."

The success of this reopening day not only reaffirms The Boathouse's status as a beloved local treasure but also signals the beginning of an exciting chapter of growth and innovation.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Mark Cooper said:

“I would like to wish Sean, Geraldine and the whole team every success with the reopening of this popular restaurant.  I have no doubt that The Boathouse will excel and I am delighted that this vibrant dining venue is back on the menu for our local residents and visitors.”
