Local woman Sara Potter along with brother Gordon Allen were delighted to recently present a cheque for £502 to local organisation Victim Support NI.

Sara, from Ahoghill, works as a Newborn and Family Photographer and decided to hold a raffle to win an outdoor family photoshoot to raise funds for Victim Support NI. It was Sara and Gordon's way of saying 'thank you' to those who supported them as brother and sister when they faced their own very difficult time.

Sara explained:

"This time last year, Victim Support NI supported my brother and I through a very difficult time.

"We suffered abuse as children. In September last year, we endured a court trial which lasted four weeks, in order to finally bring our abusers to justice.

"Victim Support NI supported us every step of the way and made a horrendous experience a little bit more bearable. We are so grateful for the compassion, care and respect they showed us.

"We felt that we wanted to give back to this incredible charity and we were delighted to raise an amazing £502 through the photoshoot raffle."

Victim Support NI is an independent charity which helps people affected by crime. The organisation offers a free and confidential service, whether or not the crime has been reported, and regardless of how long ago the crime took place.

Sara added:

"This donation will provide a little bit of help towards supporting other victims of crime in Northern Ireland.

"Victim Support NI work tirelessly to support those in need of their services, and we are delighted to have raised some much needed funds for them.

"We presented Julie Ann (Antrim Witness Service Co-Ordinator) and Chris (Remote Hearing Centre Co-Ordinator) with our donation and enjoyed the opportunity to have a tour of Victim Support NI’s brand new Remote Hearing Centre, which is absolutely fantastic.

"We wish to thank Julie Ann and Chris and all the team at Victim Support NI for everything they have done for us."
