From Barry Clarke, Director of Coaching at Ballymena Lawn Tennis Club
“At the point of writing we are 8 minutes away from it officially being the day tennis returns in some capacity at BLTC!
“As I was collecting some pictures for our collage it helped me reflect on what sport brings to so many lives.
“Here at Ballymena Lawn Tennis we are such a close community. Members have been here for each other throughout lockdown where possible, always checking in on others and trying to keep everyone entertained and have a sense of togetherness even when apart.
“During this new tennis year I’m going to hold the sport even closer to my heart than before.
“We have so much to be thankful for, and tennis is a sport which has contributed to this! Friendships have been made for life, goals have been met, young people have become inspired and most importantly its a place of enjoyment, where for a few hours each week you can forget about what’s been happening at home or work.
“I for one can’t wait to see familiar faces and also new faces throughout the incoming tennis year. Seeing our members both young and older, beginner, intermediate and professional, all out on the courts smiling, socialising and improving.
“The clubs greatest strength is our community spirit and welcome for all abilities.
“This club provides a chance to socialise, improve, compete and achieve. Every member brings something both on and off the court. It’s a family, and now that tennis family will begin to come together again!
“See you all on the courts!”
NOTE: Currently it is Singles Play only or doubles with two families (current members only). To book a court, club members should please contact Club Secretary Mary Goodwin.
