North Antrim MLA Robin Swann has called on the entire community to “keep up the tremendous public support” by rallying behind the constituency’s farming industry by attending the forthcoming annual agricultural shows in Ballymena.
Robin made his rallying call after attending the recent North Antrim Agricultural Show in Ballymoney with Cllr Darryl Wilson after which he also congratulated the organisers of the North Antrim Show for “organising a thoroughly professional premier agricultural event”.
"The range on livestock, crafts, home industries, local businesses large and small, was both a credit and testimony to the hard work and the high esteem that the organising committee of the Ballymoney Show are held. With the fantastic crowds boosted by the excellent weather."

The Ballymena Show will be held on Saturday 17th June, and Robin is calling on the community to show the same support as had been given to the Ballymoney event.
The MLA is a Past President of the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster and Past Chairman of the influential Rural Youth Europe organisation. He has also served on the Northern Ireland Assembly’s Agricultural Committee.
Mr Swann said:
“I would encourage the North Antrim community to rally behind the constituency’s rural community and farming sector by supporting the forthcoming Ballymena Agricultural Show.
“For the past number of years, our agricultural sector in the Province has faced many challenges, which have placed numerous burdens on our agricultural sector in North Antrim with many farmers facing severe financial hardships.

“However, there is one way in which everyone in the constituency can rally behind our farming families and that is by making a point of attending the agricultural show at Ballymena with the same enthusiasm with which they supported the Ballymoney show.
“Now the community has a golden opportunity to clearly demonstrate to the farming sector that it has the full backing of the Ulster public, especially in North Antrim.
“Both these traditional annual shows in Ballymena and Ballymoney have built impressive reputations as being highly enjoyable events for all the family.
“So I publicly encourage as many families as possible to give their open support to the farmers by visiting the show in Ballymena and make 2023’s attendancesamong the best ever in the history of this agricultural event."
