The annual Translink Stuff a Bus appeal has reached its target to provide 30,000 meals to tackle hunger this Christmas, and with donations still being made online it is set to exceed its original goal and help even more people across Northern Ireland.
Translink teamed up with Homeless Connect’s FareShare NI project, alongside partners U105 and Belfast Live, to raise vital funds and food donations for those in greatest need and to help tackle the hunger crisis in Northern Ireland.
The generosity of Northern Ireland’s general public has once again prevailed as Translink’s annual Stuff a Bus campaign has surpassed 30,000 meals just in time for Christmas, at a time when more families are facing severe financial difficulties, many of whom have never needed support before and are now finding themselves in need.
Commenting on the success of the campaign, Chris Conway, Group CEO at Translink, said:
“Stuff a Bus is such an important campaign which makes a big difference to those in need. This is a fantastic result, and I would like to thank the generosity of our passengers, staff, local businesses, schools, and the general public who have donated throughout the campaign and continue to give online.
"Stuff a Bus will once again help those in our local communities who need it the most at Christmas by tackling hunger and ensuring no-one goes without.”
Nicola McCrudden, CEO Homeless Connect which operates the FareShare project in Northern Ireland commented:
“We are delighted that the Stuff a Bus campaign has exceeded its target and would like to thank everyone who has donated. These donations will allow us to feed many more people over the Christmas period and into the New Year.
"We are extremely grateful to have partnered with Translink for this year’s Stuff a Bus campaign which has made a huge difference and helped to raise awareness of the great work that our staff and volunteer teams do every week in NorthernIreland for those in need.”
The appeal will stay open until the of 5th January 2024 so there is still time to make a donation visit:
We can continue to make a difference and provide nourishing food to those most in need over the festive period and new year.
