Locally owned energy provider, Share Energy, has welcomed the latest Utility Regulator’s Quarterly Retail Energy Market Monitoring Report published today, Friday 14 March, which revealed an almost ten-fold growth in the number of Share Energy’s customers across Northern Ireland.
The report shows the newcomer to the local market as the fastest-growing energy supplier in Northern Ireland.
Rising from ninth place to seventh in the rankings, Share Energy’s rapid expansion sets it apart in a market where several major suppliers have seen customer losses.
Share Energy CEO, Damian Wilson, welcomed
“It’s fantastic to be recognised as the fastest growing electricity supplier in NI. As a new locally-owned addition to the market we are delighted with the way the public is embracing what we stand for by being part of a small revolution up and down the province.
“Our compelling combination of market leading prices, best in class service, underpinned by our commitment to share our profits 50-50 with our customers is really shaking things up.
“We also have a referral program that rewards both the customer and whoever they invite to join Share Energy. It’s clear a growing number of people are coming to realise there is now real choice in the local electricity market and it’s really easy to switch.”
Overall electricity switching activity in Q4 2024 increased from the previous quarter.
Domestic customers continue to engage in the market with over 23,700 domestic switches completed during Q4 2024, a switching rate of 2.8% (an increase from 2.7% in Q3 2024). The industrial and commercial sector saw a decrease in the electricity switching rate, from 1.8% in Q3 2024 to 1.5% in Q4 2024.
Northern Ireland’s Consumer Council encourages customers to use their price comparison tool on the Consumer Council website, where you can find all available electricity tariffs in Northern Ireland and see if you could save by switching supplier, tariff or billing method.
