A Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Mrs Joan Christie, CVO, OBE, former Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim, is set to be held this week in Ballymena.
The much respected local lady sadly passed away in hospital on Sunday 1 January following a road traffic collision.
Tributes were paid to Mrs Christie across Northern Ireland, including by Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Noel Williams, who described the former Lord-Lieutenant as "inspirational" and "selfless".
The Service of Thanksgiving will be held at St Patrick’s Parish Church, Castle Street, Ballymena, at 11am on Friday 6th January.
The service is open to all.
A notice in The Funeral Times states:
"Christie -1st January 2023, at hospital, Joan CVO OBE, former Lord Lieutenant of County Antrim, beloved wife of the late Dan, much loved mother of Joanna, Harriett and Marcus.
"House Private.
"Service of Thanksgiving in St. Patrick’s Parish Church, Castle Street, Ballymena on Friday 6th January at 11.00am.
"The service is open to all.
"Donations in lieu of flowers for NI Air Ambulance or RNIB c/o Mrs Mona Murdock, 31 Bushmills Road, Coleraine. Deeply regretted by her loving family and entire family circle."
