Road works set to commence but business as usual in Harryville

HARRYVILLE area of Ballymena

A £340,000 carriageway and footway resurfacing scheme in the Harryville area of Ballymena will get underway tomorrow, Monday 2 September.

The work includes both Henry Street and Gilmore Street, and extends from from Railway Street to Queen Street.

Businesses in the area will be open as usual and the Council car park in Harryville will be free to use for the duration of the works to mitigate for a temporary loss of on-street spaces to facilitate the footpath upgrade.

The works are planned to be completed by Wednesday 30 October 2024.

To minimise the impact on trade during the full Henry Street road closure, a temporary entrance to the car park will be opened on Gilmore Street to ensure the free car parking is accessible for shoppers during the duration of these works.

To facilitate the safe delivery of the scheme it will be necessary to implement the following:

Mon 2 Sep at 8am - Sat 5 Oct at 7pm

Lane closure to facilitate all footway works

Sat 5 Oct at 8am - Friday 11 October at 5pm

Full road closure to facilitate resurfacing works on Henry Street.

Mon 14 Oct at 8am - Wed 16 Oct at 5pm

Full closure to facilitate resurfacing works on Gilmore Street.

Thur 17 Oct at 8am - Wed 30 Oct at 5pm

Lane closure to facilitate all footway works

During the times of the road closure a diversionary route will be signed via: Larne Road link, Larne Road and vice-versa.

The Department for infrastructure says it has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience. However, while steps have been taken to accommodate local access throughout the scheme, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.

Subject to favourable weather conditions the works will be substantially complete by Wednesday 30 October 2024, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
