Coaches at a County Antrim football club have used money donated through Power NI’s Helping Hands initiative to purchase a storage container to ensure players’ personal belongings can be kept secure.
Based in Randalstown, a total of £300 has been awarded to Loughview Youth FC through the electricity supplier’s charitable scheme. The club currently has four squads, with children from ages five to 14 representing it at games held across Northern Ireland.
Stephen Beattie, a member of the 2012 team’s coaching staff, said:
“I would like to thank Power NI on behalf of everyone at Loughview Youth Football Club.
“Securing a storage container with this funding will be a massive benefit to the club, its players, and coaches as they have had to use their cars up until now to ensure items are kept safe. The container gives everyone a designated place to leave any of their personal belongings,” he added.
Katherine Lavander, whose son plays for Loughview Youth FC, was the person who applied to Power NI for Helping Hands support and has already noticed the difference it has made.
“Loughview Youth FC are doing amazing work with the children in the Randalstown and Antrim areas,” she said. “They provide a football-for-everyone environment which means no child is turned away from sport. This automatically makes them feel welcome and part of a supportive and friendly team setting.
“As a recently formed club, I know everyone associated with Loughview Youth FC will be delighted to receive this funding as it will help them in their journey.”
