Radio Cracker, Ballymena’s own charity radio station has opened a shop in the Fairhill Shopping Centre. Situated close to the car park elevator, the shop opened its doors on 7 June selling nearly new goods.

Commenting on the opening of the shop, the new Chairman of Radio Cracker Ballymena, Bill McCluggage, said:

“Thanks to the support of the Fairhill Shopping Centre, their excellent staff, retail outlets such as Boots, who have donated goods, and Next, who have donated shop equipment. Radio Cracker Ballymena is looking forward to another positive year.

"The volunteers in the shop, led by Anne Johnston and Paula White, would be happy to see anyone looking for a bargain.

"Later this year we’ll once again be organising events around Ballymena and after the summer will be building the Radio Cracker studio in the Fairhill Shopping Centre unit in preparation, of course, for our usual FM broadcast season running up to Christmas.”

Radio Cracker Ballymena had a very successful year in 2022. Through the generosity of members of the public, listeners, sponsors and advertisers, and the dedication of the volunteers in the Radio Cracker Ballymena shop, the charity managed to exceed expectation and raise over £51k for its charity projects.

It also celebrated its 30th anniversary of operation, having broadcast over 10,000 hours of FM programming, raised over £1.8m and supported over 200 projects worldwide.

These projects have included the provision of critical equipment, facilities and medical services to carry out, for example, cataract operations, providing funds to our designated charities to enable them to provide clean water to many communities and also many other projects that have given practical help where it is most needed.

The shop is open now and the team will appreciate, as always, local community support to enable the charity to continue making an impact to lives across your world.
