Public events set to take place as Department of Health considers NI hospital reconfiguration plans

The Department of Health is inviting people to attend a series of public events as part of the consultation on the hospital reconfiguration framework.


The consultation, “Hospitals – Creating a Network for Better Outcomes”, was launched on 2 October and sets out the key principles to underpin service reorganisation.



The aim of the consultation is to address a number of areas including the need for hospital reconfiguration, how hospitals can work together for better outcomes, where services are and how people can get the services they need in a sustainable way.


Following last month’s public meeting in Newtownards, the next public meeting will take place in the Western Health and Social Care Trust area, in Omagh, on Wednesday 15 January.



The dates and locations of all upcoming meetings are outlined below:


Event: Western Trust

Location: Silverbirch Hotel, 5 Gortin Rd, Omagh, Co Tyrone, BT79 7DH

Date: Wednesday 15 January 7-9pm


Event: Belfast Trust

Location: Ramada by Wyndham Hotel, Talbot Street, Belfast, BT1 2LD

Date: Tuesday 21 January 7-9pm


Event: Northern Trust

Location: Tullyglass Hotel, 178 Galgorm Road, Ballymena, BT42 1HJ

Date: Wednesday 5 February 7-9pm


Event: Southern Trust

Location: Armagh City Hotel, 2 Friary Road, Armagh, BT60 4FR

Date: Tuesday 18 February 7-9pm


Event: Open to All 

Location: Online 

Date: Tuesday 11 February 7-9pm



The meetings will provide information about the proposals, answer questions from the public, and encourage participation in the consultation process.

The consultation deadline has now been extended until 28 February 2025.
