Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts is set to unveil Portrush Adelphi this month, a sophisticated 34-room hotel in the heart of the charming seaside town of Portrush, opening on 21 April 2025.

The property, the sixth in the Marine & Lawn portfolio and the brand’s second in Northern Ireland, opens just months before Portrush takes centre stage as host of the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club in July.

Positioned mere steps from the rugged coastline, the hotel promises to marry timeless elegance with the rich heritage of County Antrim, offering a fresh chapter for a cherished local landmark.

Acquired in 2022, Portrush Adelphi has undergone a meticulous restoration, revitalising its guest rooms, public spaces, and dining areas.

Designed by the in-house team at AJ Capital Partners, Marine & Lawn’s parent company, the hotel draws inspiration from Portrush’s storied golfing legacy and the dramatic beauty of the Causeway Coast.

“We are thrilled to bring Portrush Adelphi to life as part of Marine & Lawn’s growing presence in Northern Ireland,” said Phillip Allen, President of Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts.

“Portrush is a natural fit for our brand, with its iconic status as a golfing destination and its vibrant energy, fuelled by rising tourism and the upcoming Open. We’re proud to contribute to this dynamic moment with our unique approach to hospitality.”

A design steeped in local character

From the moment guests enter the lobby, they are greeted by an atmosphere of refined warmth.

Mahogany herringbone floors, soaring columns, abundant greenery, and an open fireplace create a welcoming haven, particularly for the cooler months.

The hotel’s 34 rooms are individually crafted, featuring a rich palette of jewel tones—moody blues and greens—that echo the surrounding landscapes. Tartan upholstery and cable-knit throws add tactile warmth, while bespoke furnishings elevate the sense of old-school luxury.

The bathrooms continue the land-and-sea theme, with vibrant green tiles and custom wallpaper nodding to Ireland’s “Emerald Isle” moniker. Ensuite amenities include products from Floris, the world’s oldest independent family perfumer, reinforcing Marine & Lawn’s commitment to craftsmanship.

Culinary excellence at The Red Sail Room

Portrush Adelphi introduces The Red Sail Room, a high-end Italian restaurant designed to attract both hotel guests and locals.

Blending authentic traditions with contemporary flair, the dining room exudes warmth with oak leaf wallpaper, whitewashed wooden panelling, and deep maroon velvet banquettes.

Oil paintings depicting the local coastline add a sense of place, while the menu showcases Italian dishes crafted with locally sourced ingredients.

An extensive wine list, featuring Italian and global vintages, has been carefully curated to complement the culinary offerings, promising an elevated dining experience rooted in the region’s flavours.

A gateway to the Causeway Coast

Located an hour from both Belfast and Derry-Londonderry, Portrush is a picturesque base for exploring Northern Ireland’s iconic landmarks.

The UNESCO-listed Giant’s Causeway, the haunting ruins of Dunluce Castle, and Bushmills Distillery—the world’s oldest licensed distillery—are all within easy reach.

The town itself boasts three golden beaches—East Strand, West Strand, and Whiterocks—ideal for swimming, surfing, paddleboarding, and kayaking.

For golf enthusiasts, Portrush is a mecca. Royal Portrush Golf Club, ranked eighth in the world by Golf Digest, offers sweeping views of the Causeway Coast’s dunes and cliffs and will host the upcoming Open Championship.

The hotel’s concierge can arrange tee times at the area’s premier courses, while those seeking a broader adventure can explore The Marine & Lawn Grand Tour, a bespoke experience combining stays at multiple portfolio properties with curated golfing, dining, and cultural activities.

A growing portfolio

Portrush Adelphi joins Marine & Lawn’s esteemed collection, which includes Slieve Donard in County Down, Northern Ireland, and four Scottish properties: Rusacks St Andrews, Marine North Berwick, Marine Troon, and Dornoch Station Hotel.

With starting rates from £245 per room per night, including a full Irish breakfast and VAT, the hotel is also pet-friendly, ensuring a warm welcome for all guests.

As Portrush prepares to shine on the global stage, Portrush Adelphi stands ready to offer a refined retreat for travellers seeking to experience the Causeway Coast’s unparalleled beauty and vibrant spirit.
