One of County Antrim’s popular swimming spots is set to close over the peak summer period.
In a short statement to Love Ballymena, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council confirmed that Portballintrae Harbour and Slipway will be closed to the public for essential works.
The news will come as a disappointment to the many users who enjoy kayaking, swimming, and the young and old who often are seen running and jumping into the waters at Portballintrae Harbour.
A Council spokesperson commented:
“Due to essential slipway repair works, Portballintrae Harbour & Slipway will be closed for access during construction works.
“Works are expected to commence June and will take approximately 2-3 months.
“For safety reasons, we are asking the public to adhere to this closure until works are completed.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
