44-year-old Eileen Thornton
The Police Service of Northern Ireland can confirm the name of the woman who sadly died following a road traffic collision in Ballymena on Tuesday 3rd September.
She was 44-year-old Eileen Thornton from the Broughshane area.
Inspector Cherith Adair from the Police Service’s Collision Investigation Unit said:
“We received a report shortly after 8pm of a single-vehicle collision on the Cushendall Road.
“Officers attended the scene along with our colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, however Eileen sadly passed away later in hospital.
“Our thoughts are with the family at this time and an investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances.
“The Collision Investigation Unit is appealing to anyone who may have any information which may assist with our investigation, or who may have been travelling in the area at the time and captured any dash-cam or other footage, to get in touch on 101, quoting reference number 1515 03/09/24.”
A funeral notice has been published by James Henry Funeral Services saying:
“Thornton Eileen (nee Wray) 3rd September 2024, suddenly, the result of an accident, late of 25 The Commons, Broughshane, formerly of Station View, Glarryford.
“Much loved daughter of David and the late Angela, loving sister of Gareth and Gregory, sister-in-law of Jenny and Louise and dear aunt of Dean, Lewis and Courteney. Funeral arrangements later.
“Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, may be sent to James Henry Funeral Services 100 Broughshane Street, Ballymena BT43 6EE for NI Chest, Heart and Stroke.
