Police investigate report of stabbing in Ballymena town centre

The Police Service of Northern Ireland are investigating after receiving a report of a stabbing on Tuesday afternoon (24th September) in Ballymena town centre.


The incident which happened in the Wellington Street area of the town, was reported to police shortly after 12.30pm yesterday.



A spokesperson for the PSNI commented:


"Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened and anyone with information that may assist officers is asked to come forward.


"Please call 101 or make a report online at http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport."



A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service commented:


"The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 12:38 on Tuesday 24th September following reports of an incident in the Wellington Street Area, Ballymena.


"NIAS despatched one Emergency Ambulance Crew to the incident.


"Following initial assessment and treatment at scene, one patient was taken to Antrim Area Hospital by ambulance."
