Police continue to tackle OCG gang operating UK wide as car stopped using ‘pre-emptive’ tactics

A male has been arrested after PSNI Officers from the ANPR Interceptor Team stopped a BMW vehicle on the M1 Motorway in the Lisburn area yesterday (Friday 15 April) using pre-emptive tactics to prevent the likelihood of a pursuit.

It comes after a similar dramatic vehicle stop in the Coleraine area involving the Interceptor Team and PSNI Air Support Unit which occurred on Wednesday this week.

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said:

“The vehicle and occupant were suspected of being involved in large scale thefts from retail premises around Great Britain and Northern Ireland and also belonging to the same Organised Crime Gang (OCG) of which three persons were arrested by the team on Wednesday.

“One male was arrested on suspicion of theft and motoring offences.

“A large amount of suspected stolen property was recovered from the vehicle including Razors, Designer clothing and household goods. The vehicle was also seized.”
