Plans submitted for 21 new homes in Ahoghill

Updated: Apr 17, 2022

A planning application lodged by KMBC Properties Ltd could make way for a new residential housing development on the Galgorm Road, Ahoghill.

Plans submitted at the beginning of April reveal the vision to redevelop the former site of Hayburn Wood Products in the village, to contain 21 new homes, comprising seven detached dwellings, 10 semi-detached, and four town houses.

Hayburn closed its doors in November 2018, citing “difficult trading conditions”, and was a blow to the area at the time with the resulting loss of 40 - 60 jobs.

A consultation on the development plans is currently being undertaken, with letters being sent to surrounding homes on Galgorm Road, and Gloonan Hill, before being considered by the Planning Committee of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.

Draperstown based KMBC Properties Ltd also recently submitted a planning application last September for 44 new homes, comprising 26 semi-detached and 18 detached units, on the former site of Braid Integrated Primary School on Fry’s Road, Ballymena.
