The congregation of Larne Baptist Church are looking forward to the future, with plans submitted last week that they hope will make way for extensive changes to their gathering place at Upper Cairncastle Road, in the Craigyhill area of the town. Validated on April 11, the plans include the proposed demolition of existing the church’s existing Sanctuary, construction of a new Sanctuary, foyer and ancillary rooms together with associated site works.

The formation of the present Baptist Church in Larne can be traced back to late 1954 when a number of people with Baptist convictions who had moved into the Larne area began to meet together.
In 1978 a permanent building was completed and in 2003/4 the Church building was completely renovated and updated and a new extension was added.
The proposals will come before Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s Planning Committee in the coming weeks.
