One person taken to Royal Victoria Hospital following collision in Ballymena

Northern Ireland Air Ambulance

One person has been taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast following a road traffic collision in Ballymena on Friday morning, November 15.


Emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision at Slaght Road around 11:30am. Northern Ireland Air Ambulance was also tasked to the incident.



Police subsequently closed the road, and a PSNI spokesperson advised motorists:


“Slaght Road in Ballymena is closed in both directions following a road traffic collision. Diversions are in place. Please seek an alternative route if possible.”


Following the collision, a spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service commented:


“The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 11:31 on Friday 15 November following reports of an RTC on the Slaght Road, Ballymena.



“NIAS despatched three Emergency Ambulances and two Ambulance Officers to the incident. The Charity Air Ambulance was also tasked to attend.


"Following initial assessment and treatment at scene, one patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital by Ambulance."
