Northern Regional College Plumbing student Blake Hamilton has been named a finalist in the Apprentice of the Year category at the prestigious Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Awards 2025
Northern Regional College is proud to announce that Plumbing student Blake Hamilton has been named a finalist in the Apprentice of the Year category at the prestigious Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Awards 2025, set to take place on Wednesday, 26th March.
The awards celebrate apprentices who demonstrate exceptional contributions in their workplace and show dedication to excelling in their professional development and learning.
Blake, based at the College’s Newtownabbey campus, is a standout apprentice who exemplifies these qualities through his academic achievements, practical expertise and commitment to renewable energy solutions.

Blake, who is employed by Newell Contracts Limited, consistently excels in both theoretical and practical aspects of his apprenticeship. Not only does he achieve top scores in his exams, but he is also trusted to manage jobs on-site, showcasing his advanced skills and reliability.
Demonstrating a particular passion for renewable energy and green technologies, Blake recently completed Vaillant Heat Pump training outside his formal apprenticeship. This additional qualification reflects his dedication to advancing his knowledge and skills in eco-friendly plumbing solutions.
Aaron Newell, Managing Director of Newell Contracts, spoke highly of his contribution to the company:

Peter Lynch, Blake’s Plumbing Lecturer at Northern Regional College, said:
