Northern Ireland Fire Service battle 10-acre wildfire in Co Antrim

Firefighters from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) have been working tirelessly to contain a wildfire that broke out on Lisboy Road, Ballymoney, on Friday afternoon.
The blaze, reported just after 4pm on 4th April 2025, has spread across approximately 10 acres, with a firefront stretching 200 metres.
A spokesperson for NIFRS confirmed that seven fire appliances and 51 firefighters have been deployed to tackle the incident. Crews from Ballymoney, Ballymena, Ballycastle, Coleraine, and Maghera Fire Stations are on the scene, supported by a Command Support Unit and additional specialist vehicles.



“The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service has been tackling a wildfire on Lisboy Road, Ballymoney, of approximately 10 acres,” the spokesperson said. “Our teams are working hard to bring the situation under control.”
Local residents have been urged to steer clear of the area to ensure firefighting operations can proceed without disruption. “Locals are requested to avoid the area to help support firefighting efforts,” the spokesperson added.
The cause of the wildfire has not yet been disclosed, and efforts to extinguish the blaze are ongoing as crews battle to prevent further spread.
