Northern Ireland teen singing sensation Sophie Lennon is set to showcase her stunning voice to a global audience when she takes to the stage tomorrow night (Tuesday 23 July) on US hit show, America’s Got Talent (AGT).
The 14-year-old Newry lass has wooed audiences at home and across the UK, and has been attracting attention from ever-widening circles.
Having competed in 2022, representing Ireland in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and placing a respectable fourth in all of Europe, Sophie returned in 2023 as a guest appearance, singing live to over 80 million people worldwide. She was also a semi-finalist reserve on Britain's Got Talent, and won BBC School Soloist of the Year 2022.
Sophie released her cover of O Holy Night last Christmas to much critic acclaim. More recently she released Secret Hideaway on May 31, and is available to listen to now on all popular streaming platforms.
With a voice of an angel the young star is ready to serenade on her biggest stage yet, broadcasting both in the States and around the globe.
Sophie took to her social media platforms over the weekend to reveal the exciting news to her fans and followers saying: “I can’t believe it, but I can finally share with you all after keeping it secret for so long that I’m going to be on this season of ‘AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’ - it’s been an absolutely CRAZY whirlwind six months.”

Sophie shared of her shock when she was scouted by the America’s Got Talent team back in February, and was then invited to fly out with her parents, Marcus and Theresa - all expenses paid - for three days filming in Los Angeles.
Speaking to Love Ballymena, proud mum Theresa said:
"Sophie's journey over the past few years has been nothing short of incredible! It's truly inspiring to witness her unwavering commitment and hard work finally being rewarded with her remarkable appearance on America's Got Talent. Seeing her pursue her passion and turn her dreams into reality fills us with immense pride and joy. We couldn't be more thrilled for her!"
As for Sophie, the young woman with a big future is still coming to terms with finding herself in a whirlwind of success that is carrying her along in a direction that is leading to an exciting destiny.
I’m still pinching myself with what all is happening lately,” said Sophie. “I’ve always dreamed of being on AGT from I was little, watching all their YouTube videos and I just can’t believe my dream has come true.
“I’m absolutely privileged to be the first person ever from Northern Ireland to be chosen to perform on the biggest talent show in the world! I still can’t believe it, what an experience it’s been so far and I can’t wait to share my journey with you all.
“Thank you all so so much for your continued support to me throughout everything it means the world to me! Stay tuned for lots more to come.”
Sophie will feature in the US and worldwide, on America’s Got Talent - Tuesday night, 23 July, broadcasting on NBC and Peacock TV.
