Twin newborn baby brothers Finlay James and Malachy Thomas are said to have arrived "fashionably late to the party".
A Northern Ireland hospital celebrated the 75th birthday of the NHS in style on Wednesday (5 July) with an incredible four sets of twins born within 24 hours.
Announcing the news the Ulster Hospital, part of the the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, confirmed that just as staff were celebrating the arrival of three sets of twins, "three had become four", and adding babies Finley and Malachy arrived "fashionably late to the birthday party".
At 22:19 pm baby Finley Campbell came into the world, quickly followed at 22:21 pm by his little twin baby brother, Malachy Campbell.
Proud mum Ellen Campbell said:
“We are so emotional at the birth of our beautiful baby boys. It’s just been brilliant, every single part of it.”
Dad James Campbell added:
“I am just so proud.”
Lead Midwife, Sarah McKevitt detailed how unusual it is to have so many sets of twins born in the unit in just one day. She explained:
“It has been an enormous privilege for myself and all the staff to support these four mums and the parents of these four sets of beautiful twins.
"It has been amazing to mark the NHS 75th birthday with these remarkable and wonderful births. We are just delighted that all the mums and babies are doing so well.”
