New arch raised in village ahead of Broughshane’s Mini Twelfth parade

Members and friends of Broughshane LOL 503 were delighted to finally raise a new arch over the village main street on Monday evening (July 4), ahead of the Mini Twelfth march due to take place this evening, Wednesday, July 6.

A spokesperson for the Orange Lodge commented:

“In 2019, the lodge set out on an ambitious journey. Our aim was to raise enough funds to erect a brand new arch, to be placed in the traditional spot in the centre of the village.

“Three years, a five figure sum and a worldwide pandemic later, we have finally realised this aim. And we are absolutely buzzin’!

“Thank you for your support. We couldn't do it without the support of the local people. If anyone wishes to donate to the arch, then please PM the page, or throw in an extra pound our two at the collection on Wednesday night.”

The Braid District’s Mini Twelfth parade will set off at 7:30pm this evening from Whinsmoor Park, and take the following route:

Whinsmoor Park, Raceview Road, Main Street, Rathkeel Road, Buckna Road, Houstons Mill Entry, Main Street, Raceview Road, Whinsmoor Avenue.

There will be a short 10 minute break when the parade reaches the middle of the village when the new arch will be dedicated and officially opened.

Organisers expect up to 25 bands to participate according to the Parades Commission website.
