Leading food company Moy Park has donated £13,000 to a local charity based in Ballymena.

Mid & East Antrim Affordable Food Club is a social enterprise with the first affordable food club in Northern Ireland and the funding received from Moy Park will help them deliver more fresh food directly to those in need.

With 300 members receiving support from the group each week, support from local businesses such as Moy Park is crucial in being able to provide food to local people in need.

The funding has allowed the group to purchase a company van, meaning it can now operate a mobile shop in the local community as well as food storage units to keep food donations fresh.

It is the latest support for the charity from Moy Park, with the community group also receiving food donations in recent years, as part of Moy Park’s commitment to helping local organisations close to its facilities.

Commenting on the support received from Moy Park, Michele Campbell Operations Director at Mid & East Antrim Affordable Food Club and Café:

“The fantastic contribution Moy Park has made has allowed us to develop our click and collect service. We have used the funding to purchase a van which will be converted into a mobile shop, allowing us to reach even more clients across the Borough.

"The help and ongoing support from Moy Park since our inception have been invaluable.”
