A yellow weather warning has been issued for Northern Ireland by the UK Met Office who say heavy showers and thunderstorms may bring torrential downpours causing travel disruption and, in places, flooding.
The weather advisory is effective from 12:00pm today (Tuesday 28 May) through to 9:00pm this evening.
A Met Office spokesperson said:
“Heavy showers and thunderstorms will break out across parts of Northern Ireland, mainly the east, late morning and into this afternoon before fading during the evening.
“Where storms are particularly frequent 20 to 30 mm of rain may build up over 2 or 3 hours. Frequent lightning, hail and gusty winds will be additional hazards in some places.”
