The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain across Counties Antrim and Down, saying frequent and heavy showers may cause some flooding and disruption to travel.

The weather warning is effective from 12:00pm today, Friday 27th October, through to 6:00pm on Saturday, 28th October.

It comes after heavy overnight rain caused disruption with flooding and landslides in a number of places in County Antrim. The Coast Road between Glenarm and Ballygally, Loughareema Road near Ballycastle, and Tromra Road in Cushendall have been closed this morning.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said:

"Further heavy showers will affect Antrim and Down at times through Friday and Saturday, these most frequent near the coast and over high ground. 10 mm of rain is possible within an hour, with a few places seeing 30-40 mm in 6 hours where the most frequent showers occur."
