As Northern Irish family-owned, department store Menarys celebrates its centenary, it has announced ithis week it will open its eighteenth store at The Junction Retail and Leisure Park, Antrim.

The new 3,500 sq ft store will create seven new jobs for the company that currently employs more than 200 staff across fifteen stores in Northern Ireland, two in Republic of Ireland and one in Kent, England.

Menarys is a brand cemented in Northern Ireland’s history having survived and continued to grow through many crises and tough retail times, and sixty of those employed have been with the business between ten and thirty-five years.

Winning Northern Ireland Business Eye’s Family Retail Business of the Year in 2022, Menarys is choosing strategic locations for its new stores where shopper demographics are the right fit with the brand.

With the UK’s leading garden centre, Dobbies, set to open its flagship 110,000 sq ft store at The Junction on 5 October as well, Menarys is replicating a formula which has seen success elsewhere, having recently opened a new store within Ramsgate Garden Centre in Kent, and in Colemans Garden Centre, Templepatrick.

The new store at the Lotus Property-owned scheme will carry a variety of women and men’s fashion, accessories, home furnishings, cooking and dining.

Asset Manager at Lotus Property, Paul McCann said:

“It is a huge milestone for us at The Junction to have two major retailers open their doors onsite this October. Menarys is a household name across Northern Ireland and will be an excellent addition to our offering at The Junction.

“As we continue to grow with Dobbies and Menarys joining our already strong offering, it is an exciting time for the scheme as we enter 92% occupancy across The Junction’s 300,000sq ft of retail space for the first time in our history.”

Managing Director at Menarys, Jonathan Kerrigan said:

“We are delighted to announce that we will be opening our new store at The Junction Retail and Leisure Park. Our team are excited to offer customers in Antrim an extensive range of great value products.

“This opening is particularly notable as it will trigger an entire month of celebrations across our business as we reach the milestone of our 100th Birthday in October. We are thrilled that visitors to our new store at The Junction will be part of those celebrations.”

Menarys will open its doors Thursday 5 October 2023 at 11am.

The Junction is owned by Lotus Property.
