Man dies after hit-and-run collision in Ballymena

A man, believed to be in his 50’s, has died after a hit-and-run collision in Ballymena on Sunday night, 28 August.

Police and other emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident on the Cushendall Road, near the entrance to Hugomont Drive, in the town around 10:30pm.

A member of the public told Love Ballymena:

“Around 10:15pm last night I went to pick up my sister from the train station and I saw a man walking up the Cushendall Road. Whenever I returned a short time later the road was filled with police cars and an ambulance. A policeman told me there had been a hit-and-run.”

Police closed the road in both directions following the “report of a serious road traffic collision”. The road remained closed overnight but has since reopened.

We have approached the police for comment and this story will be updated.
