Police in Ballymena have charged a man aged in his 50's following a report of sexual assault on a child under 13 years of age.
The incident occurred in the Broughshane area of the town on the date of Saturday 25th November 2023. On the same date the local community in the village had turned out for the annual Christmas light switch-on, with many families attending to enjoy the Festive event.
This evening, Wednesday 6th December, a spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland told Love Ballymena:
"A man in his 50s has been charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child aged under 13.
"He is due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates' Court on 21st December.
"As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."
