Man (27) charged to court following disturbance in Ballymena

Police in Ballymena have charged a man to court following an incident that occurred the Harryville area of the town on Christmas Eve, Tuesday 24th December.


Police received a report of a disturbance in the Larne Street area shortly before 10:40am and dispatched multiple crews to the incident.



Crowds gathered as at least five police vehicles arrived and a short time later arrested a man who was taken into police custody.

Subsequently a 27-year-old man was charged with a number of offences, including disorderly behaviour and two counts of assault on police.


He was due to appear before Antrim Magistrates’ Court this morning, Thursday 26th December.


A 17-year-old boy also arrested has since been released on police bail, to allow for further enquiries.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
