Police conduct successful operation that sees three people arrested and charged in Ballymena

Police conducted a successful operation against illegal drug dealing in the Ballymena area on Tuesday 12 October resulting in drugs seized along with a substantial amount of cash, and three people charged to appear in court today (Thursday 14 October).

The searches were conducted under the PSNI’s recently announced Operation DEALBREAKER that has seen £1.34 million worth of suspected drugs removed from the streets and communities across Northern Ireland, with 94 searches, 317 drugs exhibits seized, 129 arrests made and 55 people charged for drug related offences between 17 September - 4 October.

Commenting on Wednesday evening on the operation in Ballymena, a police spokesperson said:

Yesterday officers from our local district support team, assisted by colleagues from TSG carried out a number of drugs related searches across Ballymena.

“As a result of this coordinated effort three people have now been arrested and charged with a total of 24 separate offences. They will each attend court in the morning.

“A quantity of drugs was seized along with a substantial amount of cash.

”This activity was in direct response to community concerns raised in relation to drug supply and use within the town. It is only with the support of the local community that we can be successful in disrupting this type of criminal activity.”
