Local charity Women’s Aid ABCLN is calling all adventure seekers to take part in the Europa Abseil Challenge this Spring.
Women’s Aid ABCLN Communication and Engagement Manager Arlene Creighton urged the community to get involved saying:
“Join us for Women’s Aid ABCLN’s Europa Abseil Challenge on Sunday 23rd April. Brave the heights to abseil 120ft down Belfast’s iconic Europa Hotel and help us raise vital funds for women and children affected by domestic abuse.”
Local supporter, Melissa Kirkpatrick took part in the challenge back in 2019. She says:
“Abseiling down the Europa was on my bucket list and, when Women’s Aid ABCLN put out the call, I grabbed the opportunity. The views over Belfast were incredible and I really enjoyed it.”
Women’s Aid ABCLN provides confidential support, information and emergency accommodation for women and children who are affected by domestic abuse across Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey.
Arlene added: “One in four women will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. PSNI respond to one incident of domestic abuse every 16 minutes. For every incidence we know the impact on women and children can be devastating.
“We believe that no-one should have to live in fear or threat from abuse.”
