The Police Service of Northern Ireland has issued a warning to motorists following severe icy conditions on the Whitepark Road between Ballintoy and Ballycastle.

The road is currently not passable due to ice accumulation, and authorities are advising drivers to avoid the area entirely.

The Department for Infrastructure (DFI) has been notified to address the hazardous conditions.

Despite these efforts, there have been multiple reports of Road Traffic Collisions (RTCs) where vehicles have skidded off the road, underscoring the severity of the situation.

Police has urged drivers to avoid the area until conditions improve. “We are already dealing with reports of multiple road traffic collisions where vehicles have left the road,” said a PSNI spokesperson.

Motorists are encouraged to check road conditions before traveling and to consider alternative routes if possible.
