Ian Paisley has today paid tribute to his “wonderful friend and colleague” Beth Adger MBE, after the sad news broke on Wednesday morning, March 19, of her passing.

Beth, who was serving her community as Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, was a DUP stalwart for many years.

Paying tribute, Mr Paisley said:

“I am heartbroken to learn that my good friend and colleague Beth Adger has passed away. This sudden news will shock many people. Beth has been receiving treatment but the initial prognosis was good. I spoke to her ten days ago and she was very positive.

“Beth was wonderful friend and colleague and true supporter. She was through and through an Ulster woman who cared about her country and her community.

“She was a dedicated mother to her lovely family - children and grand children. She was so passionate about family and caring that she fostered dozens of children in their time of need. It is a tribute to her love that they have all kept in contact with this wonderful woman.

“Beth was an exceptional Mayor, an office she was so thrilled to hold, and a great grassroots councillor. She served as an officer in our Bannside branch of the DUP of which as president I pass on my condolences to Tommy Adger and the entire family.

“Beth was a good Christian lady who knew her Saviour and honoured her God, and we say, “Goodnight, we will see you in the morning””.
