Houston Hair, one of Ballymena's top salons, has recently opened the door to its new home in the town, revealing tasteful touches, modern artistic flair and client-centric design within a stunning 1920's townhouse restoration project.
Founded in 2005 by award-winning hairdresser Simon Houston, a journey of 17 years has positioned Houston Hair for success, with the much-respected local man building his business to achieve a top-rate reputation and a client base to match.
'So glad you're here'
Starting out on Mill Street in Ballymena town centre, before finding a new premises in Galgorm for the last years, Houston Hair's new location on the Ballymoney Road, Ballymena, is a dream come true, and literally, a home that holds a warm welcome for both existing and new clientele.
Simon explains:
"After years of renting premises, my dream was always to purchase the perfect property that would become Houston Hair’s ‘forever home’.
"When a 1920s, red brick terrace townhouse centrally located on a tree-lined street came on the market, I knew it was THE perfect location for Houston Hair."
Simon continued:
"The house had loads of character in its pre-loved past but there clearly was a lot of work to do to bring it back to life.
"After six months of hard work, the mission of retaining character and original features while adding lots of colour and personality became a reality on October 26th 2022 when the brand new Houston Hair opened its doors for the first time."
Simon had a vision to give the property a new lease of life, and what a life that has turned out to be.
The property now boasts four bespoke salon spaces with little surprise details everywhere, that make it like nowhere else you’ve ever been.
From song lyrics to amazing art on the walls, there are selfie and insta-worthy story backdrops everywhere! Even the backyard has been transformed into a relaxing yet contemporary space to pause, chill and take in some air.
Four salons with four different personalities, providing clients with a choice of unique and bespoke spaces to choose from - this is much more than just a hair salon - it’s an experience.
There’s so much to see and while the original townhouse character has been kept, each salon space has been designed with its own vision, vibe and points of interest everywhere intentionally created to help carry you away from everyday ‘life’ for a little.
Even the bathroom mirror has a special message especially for you!
The Lounge - Houston Hair's spacious, relaxed and accessible ground floor salon has everything you need, including a coffee bar and handy access to the bathroom and stunning backyard. With its large bay window, high ceilings and original features, you could be forgiven for thinking you are visiting a London townhouse.
The Studio - Simon’s own little creative haven offering clients an exclusive salon experience with its own basin area, coffee bar and state of the art equipment.
The Loft - Here the team have channelled Miami and California to create a unique look for the relaxing basin area, and combined this with a New York loft styling area to create a space where traditional and contemporary meet class.
The Attic - The room at the top where future stylists are born. This training space has been kept simple, with a classic monochrome theme. A fully functional salon, which can also be used when the team are super busy.
