Robin Swann, the Ulster Unionist MLA for North Antrim and former Health Minister, has welcomed the update that he has received that a new contractor has been offered the contract for Cullybackey Health Centre.
Commenting today, Thursday 2nd November, Mr Swann said:
"It has been an unsettling time for both patients and staff of Cullybackey Medical Practice, so I welcome that a new contractor has been identified.
"The new contractor and staff should be given the time and space that they need while the transition takes place.
(L-R) Cllr Jackson Minford, Robin Swann MLA, Peter May Permanent Secretary Department of Health, Gearoid Cassidy Director of Primary Care.
"I want to thank the new contractor for taking on this practice and the current staff, Cullybackey Medical Practice is a focal point for the community and has been for many years. It is a credit to all involved in sourcing a new contractor in what are challenging times and they are to be commended.
"We have witnessed extreme pressure on our Primary Care health service and GPs over the past few months and years, and now they deserve the recognition and support that they need to provide the care that they want to deliver. I believe that is best delivered through the offices of a Northern Ireland Health Minister and a functioning Assembly."
