Galgorm Resort in Ballymena looks set to boost their accommodation offering after planning permission was granted today (Thursday 21st March) for a further five tourist accommodation cabins.
Planning Officers at Mid and East Antrim Borough Council gave the green light for the five units which will be located 200m north west of the resort's sherpherd's hut, across the Maine River, opposite the Galgorm Resort complex.
With numerous mature trees to the north of the site and along the river, the site benefits from restricted views from the surrounding area. Access to the site is from the Cardonaghy Road to the west via a lane way north of the site.

The local authority has previously granted permission for four cabins to the south of the proposed site.
The new cabins resemble an old airsteam caravan in shape and are 9.5m x 2.35m with a height of 2.5m, they are finished in timber shingle and double glazed hardwood windows and doors, and are to be nestled among the existing trees. The accommodation will provide a bedroom, kitchen / siting area and toilet facilities.
Today's planning decision, considered with the previous approval for the site, will see the continued expansion of one of Northern Ireland's premier resorts.
A total of nine 'airstream-type' cabins, across the river and outside the current boundaries of the resort, will provide increased capacity for guests, with all the benefits for Ballymena and the surrounding areas.
